The status LED lets you know exactly what's going on. This item charges up your 6 volt batteries just as described without overcharging.Once a certain voltage is hit (7.6v range), the device cuts off the full charge, and drops down to a float charge (6.7v). This has been verified using a multimeter.
GREAT PRODUCT FOR THE PERSON WHO LIKES TO GET IN AND GO KEEPS BATTERY AT PEAK CHARGE AND KEEPS THE AUTO READY WHEN YOU ARE.
No indicator light came on. Deltrans response was for me to pay to ship it - roughly $8 - and include a check for $8 to ship it back to me and maybe they would replace or fix it. It seemed to be a reasonable price at $25.
I contacted Deltran's service department and they treated me like I was an idiot not listening when I told them what steps I took and telling me to retake those steps. Why should I pay almost as much as the new item to get a replacement for your faulty product. Then they "forgot" who I was so I had to start over with the communication and press for a replacement.
I purchased the battery tender jr to recharge my daughters 6v battery for her jeep. So I left it plugged into the battery and it didn't charge. Their customer service sucks and I will never deal with them again.
As soon a s I got it I read the instructions and plugged it in. Not red, not green, not anything.
Extends the battery life. This is one way to keep that battery charged all winter long, and in perfect shape.
Its weight in that position made it prone to pull away from the outlet. The battery on the tractor is now always ready to go, so no need to lug out my large automotive charger.Note that the transformer that plugs into an outlet is large, so you need some space around the outlet to let it "hang" when it's plugged in. Small point but my outlet was in a crowed space so I had to plug it in upside down. Bought the Battery Tender Junior to keep my lawn tractor's battery charged over the winter. I solved that by wrapping the charger line over a cup hook to hold the charger brick in a more upright position against the outlet.Summary: This item works well, does what it says it will do and I'm sorry I didn't get it sooner. I know it says I can leave it attached overnight and it will decide on its own when to charge and when to remain idle but I unplug it at night and plug it in again in the morning (I'm retired, so I have lots of time for this sort of nonsense). I've had it now for about two weeks. In any event, it does what it claims it will do.
